Day 6: Washington, DC!

After our busy day in New York, we left to drive to Virginia, where we would be continuing our look at the historical artifacts and art from Iran! The longest part of the entire day before our museum trip was definitely the drive, as Dr. Dar and I were exhausted by the time we made it to our abode in Virginia. However, we were able to eat a big dinner of rice, and have a good sleep before we had a trip to Washington, DC the next day!

The next day, in the morning, we had breakfast and waited a little bit until we made our way to the train station! Unlike our adventures in New York, we used the public transportation to get to DC from where we were staying in Virginia. This was definitely a super cool experience, since I haven't been on public transportation since the COVID-19 Pandemic. It took us a little bit of time to get to our destination, but it was worth it as there was so much to explore on our way to our way to the National Museum of Asian Art!

The cherry blossoms were in bloom, so it was much more packed in DC than it is usually, but I think that that made it for an even more exciting experience! Dr. Dar and I stopped by the cherry blossoms to take some pictures, as the trees were just so pretty that we couldn't pass up the opportunity! After admiring the cherry blossoms, and the festivities that were occurring around the trees, we walked a few ways away to the National Museum of Asian Art!

The National Museum of Asian Art had an exhibit which showed a lot of historical art from every different part of Asia, as well as historical Islamic art from Iran, Syria, and many more places. This was definitely a super interesting experience, as the amount of art that I was able to see and learn about was so interesting! Seeing all of the different kinds of historical artifacts and art from the different parts of Asia definitely made me have a further appreciation for art, and the art specifically from Iran definitely helped me learn more about the history of Iran and the Iranian people! In addition to this, the Islamic Art Exhibit was also interesting, as I had more of a personal connection to a lot of the art in that specific exhibit! I will be including pictures to all of this art in my next blog, which will be specifically about The National Museum of Asian Art!

After we went through all the exhibits that we wanted to see, we made a stop at the gift shop, as they had gifts from all around Asia! We looked around a little bit, and Dr. Dar bought a few gifts before we made our way back to the train station, and we traveled back to our abode!
